Homemade Hot Dogs

Hot dogs do not have to be bought from a food store or restaurant. You can make them from home and the good thing is you get to control what goes into them.   You can choose to make your own buns and hotdogs or cheat your way out by buying them ready made from the food store. This is how I make mine at home, easy-peasy!

Serves 4

Recipe:
4 Hot dog buns
4 Hot dogs
2 red onions
4 tomatoes
Salt to taste or 1tbsp Soy sauce
black pepper to taste
unsalted butter or olive oil

Directions:
If you decide to cheat like I do, buy pre-made buns and hot dogs from the food store or supermarket; cook the hotdogs by either putting them in boiling water, grilling them or frying them using a heavy skillet Boil/grill/fry them on medium-low heat for  about 2 minutes each until they puff up. Set them aside.

Chop the onions and the tomatoes and  slightly sauté them for a minute on a lightly oiled pan; add salt or soy sauce and black paper to taste and sauté for another minute then remove from the pan. You can also sauté the onions and the tomatoes separately.

Cut the buns vertically or horizontally and toast them using unsalted butter ensuring that they do not get burnt. put the hot dog in the middle of the bun and fill with the sautéed onions and tomatoes. Top with tomato sauce, mayo and mustard or any other condiment of your choice.
