An apple cake is a cake that includes apples as the main ingredient. It may also include other ingredients such as sugar, flour, eggs, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. You can serve it as a dessert, breakfast or afternoon snack. For adventure, the cake can be topped with icing sugar, ice cream, caramel, whipped cream or any other topping of your choice.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
Step two:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In a separate large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each addition.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in the grated apples, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.
Step three:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan and placing it on a wire rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can serve the cake as is or top with your desired toppings such as caramel sauce, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar, cinnamon or nutmeg to your taste. You can as well omit some of these ingredients . I do not like cinnamon that much so I do not use it when baking apple cake. Also you could experiment with different types of apples.
