Tomato is a very versatile ingredient in recipes. It is used in making tomato sauce as well as cooking main dishes and making salads, in their fresh form. Tomatoes sauce give flavor and color to food thus it's an ingredient that is popular in many kitchens.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until it is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes or chopped fresh tomatoes, basil, and oregano to the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes; until the tomatoes are well cooked.
Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
If you'd like a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender to blend the sauce until it reaches your desired consistency. Run it through a sieve if you do not have an immersion blender.
