Instructions
Step 1: Preparing the dough
In a large bowl, mix bread flour with yeast, sugar and salt. whisk well to mix.
Make a well in the middle and add warm water, eggs and vegetable oil or melted butter.
Knead the dough until all the ingredients bind together and the dough is sticky.
Scrape the sticky dough onto a lightly floured work surface.
Knead until soft and smooth, about 5 – 8 minutes.
Lightly grease a large bowl with oil or non-stick cooking spray. Place the dough in the greased bowl. Flip it over once to oil the top.
Cover with plastic cling film or kitchen cloth.
Set aside and allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free place until it’s puffy and doubled in size, about 1- 2 hours.
Step 2: Prepare the filling
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, add chopped onions and fry until translucent.
Add the minced beef and cook over low medium heat until the beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
Add spices and salt to taste and cook on low heat for 2 minutes
Add chopped carrots, bell pepper. cook until slightly soft then remove from heat and set aside to cool, 5 minutes
Step 3: Shape the buns
After the dough is risen, remove the plastic cover and punch it back to remove excess air.
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts.
Roll out each piece of dough into a small circle.
Scoop about 1/4 cup of the filling and place in the center of each circle.
Fold the dough over the filling by bringing the edges together towards the center. Pinch to seal the bun completely.
Step 4: Let the buns rise
Place the buns seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
Cover the baking sheet with a towel and let the buns rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until they have doubled in size (2nd proofing)
Meanwhile, pre-heat the oven to 350°F (180°C)
Step 5: Bake
Brush the top of each risen bun with egg wash.
Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds.
Bake them in the pre-heated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
Remove and let them cool on the baking sheet.
Serve them warm with your favorite accompaniment
