To make this date walnut bread, you will need the following ingredients:

- Chopped pitted dates
- Sugar
- Baking soda
- Lemon zest
- Hot milk or water
- Butter

- Self-raising flour
- Chopped walnuts

- Pre-heat oven to 350 °F (180°C) and grease and line bottom of bread pan with parchment paper.
- Mix the dates with baking soda, lemon zest and hot milk. Set aside to soak for 10 minutes, until the dates are softened and mixture cooled to room temperature.
